Remember that when Zack died in that cliff, he entrusted not only his dreams and honor to Cloud along with the Buster Sword. Zack’s Death Scene in Crisis Core and Its Significance This is where the Clerith connections become evident. A story of a hero’s journey - a journey to save the Planet. The way the “secret ending” was portrayed gave more of an impression that it was Cloud’s way of starting to tell a story to Denzel in the place where it all started. Take a look again at both of the screenshots above and the events in each one. This scene was meant to symbolize Cloud and Aerith, and it actually ties in with what happened in the scene that came before it. This is why this particular scene wasn’t z/erith, but a clerith one instead. So in canon, the Buster Sword was already Cloud’s by the time the events of FF7 started, and it remained his until the end. It had been passed on to him by Zack, same as how Angeal passed it on to Zack - the act one of entrusting their ideals to another. It hinted at a connection between whom the sword and the flowers symbolized.īut do not forget that the Buster Sword was already Cloud’s. The Buster Sword which was Zack’s before was moved to the Church where Aerith’s flowers grew. I’ll explain more later.Īgain, I can see how it would be viewed as pro-z/erith. It’s just that he wanted to focus on it being the place where his journey as a hero began rather than talk about a friend’s death. ![]() Take a look at what Cloud said in reponse.Īlthough Cloud denied it being someone’s grave, it wasn’t about denying Zack in that scene. It’s rather interesting that the boy immediately thought it was a grave, and asked Cloud if it was so. This conversation followed:Ĭloud: No… It’s where a hero’s journey once began.ĭenzel had no idea of what the place meant to Cloud. Cloud took Denzel, the boy he believed Aerith led to him, to Zack’s grave. I can understand why z/erith fans have believed the first scene as a z/erith one. The one on the left is of the first scene, while the one on the right is of the one that followed after.Ĭloud and Denzel talk at the place where Zack died, with flowers now growing on the cliff overlooking Midgar. Allow me to tell you why it was so.Ībove are screenshots of the two scenes I’ve mentioned. The first was Cloud and Denzel going to Zack’s grave, where flowers were now growing the second was of the inside of Aerith’s Church where her flowers continued to thrive, with the clean Buster Sword transferred there.Ī lot of fans have claimed it as a pro-Z/erith ending because:Ī) flowers were a symbol of Aerith them growing on Zack’s grave was taken as a z/erith hintī) Zack owned the Buster Sword before it being transferred to Aerith’s Church was also seen as a z/erith hintīut if we took a closer look at the scenes, the ending was actually more of a pro-Clerith one. ![]() Of course, none would forget the “secret ending” which involved two scenes. Being in the FF7 fandom, most, if not all, would have known about and have watched the movie sequel called “Advent Children Complete”, an extended version of “Advent Children”. ![]()
